Rant Of The Day is where I get to mouth off about whatever I feel like for however long I like. Theoretically, I'll update my whinge/opinion piece every weekday; in practice, maybe not so often. |
Occasionally, a phrase enters your vocabulary which changes your view of the world, your perception of reality, and the annoying comments you make every five minutes to express praise or disdain for practically anything. Gusworld recently discovered such a phrase, in the most unlikely of locations: a cutout bin full of cassettes at Woolworths. Amongst ten thousand copies of bad albums by Ugly Kid Joe and Shampoo (yes, I know good albums by those acts are a trifle unlikely), there it was. The title screamed out at me:
Ignore the Hagfish bit, let's face it, their album is on sale for $3, why would they matter? (Well, if you must know more, check out the Official Hagfish Lame Website, and it is, there ain't even a discography. They claim to be a punk band, their album was released in 1995. You work it out.)
Concentrate instead on the sublime beauty of that phrase, "rocks your lame ass". It's miraculous. It's wonderful. It's so stupid, it's brilliant.
Think of all the options the band must have rejected before coming up with that sublime wordplay:
As a mark of respect, Gusworld will from henceforth award occasional 'Rocks Your Lame Ass' awards to anything we feel like. So there.
